Hundreds of delegates and visitors attended the two day event at the Arena and Convention Centre, Albert Docks, Liverpool this week as the centre held their first NUREC exhibition.
The Northern Urban Regeneration Exhibition and Conference, is a key event for regeneration practitioners to listen, learn, discuss and debate the challenges facing our Northern Cities and Towns. It allows delegates to the Conference to be able to hear the views of key speakers in the field of urban regeneration and planning, and also network with key people involved with the regeneration of our Northern Towns and Cities.
Delegates were also able to witness what is going on in the European Capital of Culture and see the exciting regeneration developments taking place in Liverpool City Centre and surrounding areas.
The Conference looked back on 30 years of urban regeneration policy and implementation, highlighting the key successes made in Northern Towns and Cities, in areas such as city centre redevelopment and the development of the tourist industry, whilst at the same time, examining the challenges that now face Northern Town and Cities, particularly in terms of economic development and local neighbourhood renewal.
AHDC, along with other attendees such as Liverpool City Council, New Heartlands and Wakefield City Council exhibited the regeneration work they have achieved in their last two projects which have been based in the Anfield area.

Many delegates and spectators stopped at the AHDC stand to speak with the Cheif Executive and colleagues to learn how the AHDC model worked and were intrigued to find out how they are managing to invest in these types of derelict properties without any capital or public funding.

Later that day, Mark Loughran, Development & Control Manager from Liverpool City Council & Ian Robinson took a coach with over thirty delegates from the centre around the Anfield site, finishing up at Tancred Road for them to view the AHDC show house, which they gave much praise to.

Day two of the event consisted of Ian Robinson giving a speech of the work AHDC have done so far, including future plans and an annoucement that they are due to start phase two of the Rockfield Project very shortly. Taxis were arranged for delegates and spectators who missed the oppurtunity the day previously to view Tancred Roand and the show house.
Overall, it was another successful event for the regeneration company. AHDC created much interest between delegates and members of the public and are believed to be involved in further discussion with Local Authorities and residents around the country to see how the AHDC model can work in their communities or towns.
